Seismic Survey using Microphones (SeisMike)
Contrary to the conventional seismic surveys that require geophones to be firmly coupled to the ground, the SeisMike survey is using microphones hanging in the air to record seismic waves radiated from the ground in the form of pressure (P) waves. Advantages are (1) convenient recording not affected by the receiver coupling, (2) very-high-frequency (VHF) recording (e.g., 30 kHz), and (3) ability of rolling measurement (i.e., survey while moving).
